— Data Link Solutions (DLS), a joint venture between Collins Aerospace and BAE Systems, has been awarded a $14.2 million foreign military sale contract to provide an allied air force in the Middle East with real-time situational awareness data and voice communications technology. DLS will deliver Multifunctional Information Distribution System Low Volume Terminals (MIDS-LVT) for the country’s ground Link 16 modernization program.

“This critical military requirement will enable our international customer to meet its tactical data link exchange for air-to-ground communications,” said Heather Neff, director at DLS. “DLS is committed to providing warfighters assured, protected access to the timely information they need to complete their missions and operate with U.S. and coalition forces.”

Designed to allow exchange of real-time communications across the battle space, DLS’ MIDS-LVT is a versatile technology, arming U.S. and coalition assets across air, maritime, and ground platforms with secure, jam-resistant Link 16 communications. The system is currently deployed across U.S. Navy, Air Force, and Army platforms, as well those of foreign militaries.

MIDS-LVT was developed by a multinational consortium to provide Link 16 capability at a lower weight, volume, and cost. DLS is the only company that provides all MIDS-LVT configurations within a complete Link 16 systems portfolio, offering the world's broadest range of tactical data link terminals, equipment repair and maintenance programs, and training for air, land, and sea.

Work on the MIDS-LVT modernization contract for this ally was awarded by the U.S. Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command and will be performed at DLS facilities in Wayne, New Jersey, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
